The short version
Shape Language collects only what it needs to run your account: basic sign-in information. Your conversations live on your device. We show no ads, run no third-party analytics or tracking, and never sell your data.
1. What we collect
Account information. When you create an account, we store your email address (or the identifier your sign-in provider shares, such as Sign in with Apple or Google) so you can sign in and manage your subscription.
Usage totals. To enforce your plan's monthly allowance, we keep a running count of the AI usage tied to your account. These are totals, not the content of what you wrote.
2. Your content
The conversations, glossary, and documents you create are stored on your device. On Apple devices they may also sync through your own iCloud account, which we can't read.
When you use a feature — translating, proofreading, roleplay, tap-to-hear — the text involved is sent to our servers and passed to the AI or speech service that generates the response. It's processed to produce your result, not used to build advertising profiles.
Browser extension. The Shape Language extension for Chrome and Safari does nothing until you highlight text and tap its button. Then it sends the highlighted text, and the text immediately around it on that page (so it can pick the right meaning), to our servers with your sign-in token, which pass it to Anthropic to produce the translation — and to Google Cloud for audio when you tap a speaker. It doesn't read or record anything else on the page, your browsing history, or your activity. The extension keeps your sign-in session, study language, display preferences and a short-lived cache of audio clips in your browser.
How long it's kept. We don't store the text you translate, proofread or listen to on our servers — only the usage totals described above. Our providers process it to produce your result under their own terms for API customers.
3. Service providers
We use a small set of third-party services and software development kits (SDKs) to run the app. Each receives only what it needs for its job:
RevenueCat (subscriptions). Built into the iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android apps. It receives your account identifier, your purchase and subscription history from the App Store or Google Play (products, transaction and renewal details), and basic device and app information such as the app version, operating system and country. We use it to know which plan you're on.
Supabase (accounts and database). Stores your account (email address or sign-in provider identifier), your plan and your usage totals.
Anthropic (AI responses). Receives the text you translate, proofread, ask about or say in a roleplay, to produce the reply.
Google Cloud Text-to-Speech (spoken audio). Receives the text you ask to hear.
Google ML Kit (handwriting recognition on iPhone and iPad). Recognises handwriting on your device; Google receives usage and diagnostic information about the feature, such as device type, app version and performance metrics, but not your handwriting.
Apple and Google speech recognition (dictation). When you speak instead of typing, your device's own speech service turns your voice into text, under Apple's or Google's terms.
Resend (email). Delivers the iCloud sync diagnostics you choose to send us, which contain sync status only, never your content.
Purchases and payment details are handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play — we never see your payment information. On Apple devices, your threads, glossary and documents sync through your own iCloud account.
4. What we don't do
No advertising, no ad SDKs, no third-party analytics or tracking, no selling or renting personal information — to anyone, ever.
5. Deleting your data
You can delete your account any time from the app's settings, which removes your account record and its usage history from our servers. Content stored on your device is yours to delete with the app. Questions or manual requests: tim@voyagerspace.systems.
6. Children
Shape Language isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
